If the start to our World Youth Day pilgrimage was anything to go by, chances are we all would have gone home on the first day!

A 3.30am start followed by our plane being delayed for almost four hours, during which time we came up with creative ways to amuse ourselves, was not how we anticipated our first day to unfold. The day was quickly salvaged by the friendly repartee amongst the World Youth Day pilgrims, which saw its beginnings while we waited in the dark outside Aquinas College for our bus to arrive; a visit to St Mary’s Cathedral, which would rival any Church in Europe both in its architecture and its ambience; and the events in Hyde Park, which was the hub throughout the week for youth from all over the world to gather together to share their faith.

Chisholm House Victorious!
The 2008 annual inter-house athletics carnival realized another victory for Chisholm House, the fourth Chisholm is Victorious!win in five years!

The half–day carnival was held at Aquinas College Oval in the last week of second term on Thursday afternoon 26th June 2008 on a wet track, heavy with water from the preceding week’s rain.  Some excellent competition was witnessed, especially the ever popular 200 metre running events that result in close finishes to delight the spectators on the hill in House areas.  The 1500 metre events were also staged this day under cool conditions that proved ideal for longer distance running.  Chisholm House emerged victorious by the slender lead of just one point ahead of Romero House, and then Edmund Rice and McAuley houses followed close behind.
