Year 7 & 8 Offerings
The Aquinas College Middle School Curriculum provides for quality learning through prioritising the delivery of the Australian Curriculum. All learners are encouraged to grow through the seven general capabilities:
- Critical and creative thinking

- Ethical understanding
- Literacy
- Numeracy
- Personal and social capability
Learners in Year 7 and 8 are provided with a broad experience of the core requirements of the Australian Curriculum.
In Years 7 and 8, students are allocated to a core class, as well as having the opportunity to complete a range of elective subjects.
In Years 7 and 8, students complete the following core subjects for the entire year:
- Religious Education
- English
- Mathematics
- Japanese
- Humanities & Social Sciences
- Health and Physical Education
- Science
In Years 7 and 8, students will rotate through the following Arts and Technologies subjects, completing two per semester:
- Design and Technology Engineering
- Design and Technology Materials
- Design and Techology Food Specialisations
- Digital Technologies
- Drama
- Visual Art
- Media
- Music
Year 9 Offerings
During the last year in the Middle Years, Year 9 students are given the opportunity to choose electives and begin the transition into the senior phase of learning. It is important that students begin to recognise the subjects that they achieve well in and will guide their future learning pathway. Students are allocated a core class and study elective subjects across the year.
In Years 9, students complete the following core subjects for the entire year:
- Religious Education
- English
- Mathematics
- History for one semester only
- Health and Physical Education for one semester only
- Science
Students also study 5 elective subjects across the year, with two to be studied one semester and three in the other. Class offerings are organised through prioritising student preferences, these subjects include:
- Civics and Citizenship
- Dance
- Design and Technologies Textiles
- Design and Technologies Food Specialisations
- Design and Technologies Engineering and Materials
- Design and Technologies Materials and Technologies Specialisations
- Digital Technologies
- Economics and Business
- Geography
- Japanese
- Media Arts
- Music
- Illuminate Netball Excellence Program
- Illuminate Rugby League Excellence Program
