AQUINAS COLLEGE IS BUILDING A BRIGHTER FUTURE

opendayflyer1_thumb.jpgThe future for the students at Aquinas College is looking brighter than ever with significant building works underway, which will ultimately include a performing arts precinct housing fully equipped art rooms, a dance studio, and film and television facilities.

In the meantime, the middle school area is being given a facelift with upgraded classrooms, and more room for the Years 8 and 9 students to sit and to play, and a new book hire facility and tuckshop are being built.

Cross Country
The 2008 annual cross country event took place on Thursday 17th April using the same course as the previous three years through the College grounds and the bush land owned by Griffith University nearby.  Recent rains ensured the bush was well grown and some of the paths were severely restricted by the undergrowth making the 2008 course far more challenging than in previous drought affected years. Schoolies - Fully Sik! is a fully integrated unit of work, which will give students the financial and literacy skills to plan Schoolies' Week. "Schoolies Week is a highly anticipated time; it is an event that needs planning and careful thought just like any other event," said Teacher-Librarian Marj Kirkland. And while students will learn about planning for Schoolies Week, the aim of the program is for students to transfer the skills they have learnt to other important events.
